I would also like to share that I have recently gobbled up The Hunger Games Trilogy.
I haven't been blogging much lately, and I apologize.
I've been busy and stuff.
You know, living in the moment.
Or whatever it's called.
I have rediscovered a life outside of work!
I have actually played some soccer,
eaten dinner with Lars
and traveled outside of Hamar!!
Hopefully I will get around to sharing about this past weekend--
which was truly insane--
work late Friday night, partying planning until the whee hours,
taking a bus to Oslo Saturday morning, wandering the city,
attending a well-executed double 30th surprise party, traveling back to Hamar,
playing a soccer game, hosting and attending our long-overdue "summer" party at work,
cleaning up until the wee hours, getting on another bus to Oslo,
playing another soccer game, ....
whew.
It was a weekend packed full of good memories!
And speaking of good memories, while Lars and I were in the US he was a
groomsmen and I a guest at a Jesse and Amanda's wedding. I'll throw in
some pictures here! Later!
Seattle lost a basketball team some years back. (We're all still in mourning) But we did get a professional soccer team in 2007--the Seattle Sounders! And I had never seen a game until this last trip home!
Lars and I doubled up, taking the ferry on over to Seattle for a Mariners game at 12pm and a Sounders game 7 hours later.
The Mariners hit the ball, played good defense and the sun was out! We ate sunflower seeds and cheered for the home team! It was wonderful!
After the game we moseyed into a local bar and I bought my first pitcher of beer EVER.
I think I drank about half a pint (not bad for someone that doesn't like beer all that much....learning!) with Kyle and Lars before I ran to meet Katy at will call. . .they stayed and finished the beer. . .
And then we made out way into QWest/Century Link Stadium. The game hadn't even started but the electricity buzzing around the place was incredible.
After overtime and hours and hours of sporting adventures (and quite a few expensive game side beers) Lars and I left Seattle with two wins under our belt. :)
Even though we lost the Sonics some years back, I must say that Seattle is still a great city for a sports nut...Our next goal is to make it to a Seahawks game!
Here comes another of many "hey-check-out-how-awesome-my-trip-home-was" posts--this time about our 8.2 mile hike up Mt. Townsend.
I will definitely admit that about 10 minutes into the hike I definitely had a why-did-I-ever-think-hiking-would-be-fun moment as I was already breathing heavily and sweating. It started off pretty steep right away; I guess a solid week of sitting around the campfire and drinking with my Dad and Lars was to blame. The hot weather might have also played a part (I mean I am definitely not out of shape or anything) but I am definitely NOT COMPLAINING about that--it was a gorgeous day to make that trek.
The view from the top was insane. To use the cliché--pictures don't do it justice. I have never really gotten such a good grasp on how insanely awesomely gorgeous the Puget Sound is. I have always loved it and appreciated it's beauty but this hike really put that love over the edge. We were standing on the outskirts of one mountain range (Olympics) and staring across the channels of the Sound at another (Cascades)...it was 360 degrees of ridiculous beauty.
That might of been the best lunch of my entire trip.
It was spectacular.
