Young Love

Did I mention that one of my nieces Tavyn is absolutely head over heels in love with Lars? Last summer when she met him for the first time, she took a loooong time to warm up to him. I think she let him hold her without a tantrum that night before he left. This summer it took her about an hour to get over her shyness and get into his arms. And then she remained there as much as she could until he left.

She still asks me everytime I see her. "Where's Lars?' And I tell her that he is in Norway. 'Oh yeah...Norway. He had to go back to his house.' She says. 'Do you miss him?' She nods. 'Do you loooove him?' 'Yep!" She smiles out, before she runs away with a sheepish toddler grin on her face.

I get it, Tavyn. I'm totally in love with him too, and also wishing he was still here.

Wedding of all weddings

No, not mine folks--my brother's! He got married the 18th of July, Lars was there in full bunad, the weather was perfect (sunny and hot but with a nice breeze), Ashley was a gorgeous bride and Patrick a proud groom, some people got embarrassingly and entertainingly drunk, the ceremony was short but sweet, I envision there will be a bridesmaid to groomsman hook up in the near future, our shoes killed, there was family aplenty, we danced and sweated late into the night... I'm telling you--in so many ways it was exactly like the wedding from the books.

I wasn't so focused on photography at this wedding; I was mainly trying my best to just enjoy myself. Needless to say, there were lots of cameras flying around that day.

I'm picking Lars up from the airport tonight...enough said right? It's been a crazy, jam-packed three weeks or so since I've been back, but I still managed to miss him! I'm stoked to say the least!

Lookalikes

For some reason, I get the 'have we met before?', 'where do I know you from?' or the 'you really remind me of...' ALL THE TIME! Tonight I was someone's cousin, a couple weeks ago some swore they saw my dobbelganger in Montana (I was in Norway of course) and tonight I was Dr. Brennan from Bones. (I've never seen the show, is this at all accurate? Apparently we have similar eyes and voices).

The most shocked I have ever been was two separate occasions when people compared me to Carmen Electra. Is that a compliment or not? Besides reminding people so much of their aunts, cousins and old best friends from elementary school, I have gotten a long list of celebrity lookalikes--Alyssa Milano, Nicole Kidman (silly Spaniards), Julia Roberts and Rachel McAdams (specifically from Wedding Crashers). Oh yeah, not to mention there was a couple weeks last summer when a group of my coworkers actually talked about me (before we were introduced) as the girl that looks like Kate from LOST (Evangeline Lilly).

Does this happen to everyone? Do you find any truth in these comparisons? I find it endlessly baffling that people always associate me so quickly with other people...why does this happen? Strange...
