Connor

I crafted this rocking chair for little Connor, Jackie Cornwell's son who I had the chance to meet Saturday morning!! His room is a jungle theme, so I tried to make it leafy and wild! I've never seen his room (they live in Eastern Washington) but was told that it would work really well...so I am pleased!

It was INCREDIBLE to see Jackie, not to mention to see her as a mom. Life is coming at us quick!

(Speaking of quick, is it really only 64 days 'til I head back to Norway?!?!)

Dancin' against cancer

>> Wednesday, August 26, 2009

I just can't seem to get enough of live music lately! It seems like all of my great nights out so far this summer have involved live music, and specifically live music played by ColdNote, James' band. Most recently, Bryce (high school bud) and I attended a private benefit of theirs at a house in Kingston. All the money raised was donated to battle cancer, which in my opinion is the best way to spend money to have a good time!

The party was also open to all ages, and was outside. The house where it was held was such a good venue for a small scale concert. It was an awesome, awesome show. Afterwards we headed to a bar in Kingston called the Filling Station and after that we headed to Bryce's boat in the Kingston harbor for what the Norwegians like to call a nachspiel! It was a crazy fun night!

Me being the lucky gal that I am, I get to see ColdNote live again at the Filling Station this Saturday night!!

Fishing with Erik

>> Monday, August 24, 2009

Last week Wednesday I ventured out in a boat with a good friend of mine from PLU, Erik Gracey. We both had to work that evening so we got a bit of an early start...and were hoping to get lucky with some of that early bite, as the fishermen call it.

Erik is CRAZY about fishing. I remember many times in college when we were both stressing out about studying and finals and Erik would just be UNBEARABLE as a friend--touchy, irritable, grouchy as hell. And then he would take off--whether or not he had a big exam the next day, or a paper due. He just HAD to fish! And I will admit that whenever he came back, he was always a different person, (a person that I liked a heck of a lot more).

And now, after seeing him fish, learning from him, seeing how much he knows about that culture and is at home out there, catching and releasing some salmon...it all makes sense. Him and I also got to talk a lot about Norway (he is half Norwegian, and his mother currently lives just outside of Oslo) and it was nice to relate to someone about that part of myself as well.

Not to mention it was a gorgeous day. I feel like every day I fall more and more in love with the Puget Sound and the Pacific Northwest. I just love this place.

For my little sister!

A warning: I have the strangest internet connection ever, where I am randomly allowed to take some actions but not others. I can post pictures on this site for example, but I cannot compose an email, much less attach photos to share with my lil sis! Thus I am using this post as a way to share a lot of my favorite pictures with Emily, and whoever else is interested in my stab at portrait photography.

Emily and I seriously had such a good time shooting her senior pictures. We were lucky we had a lot of time to dedicate to the project, so we got to use a lot of different backdrops, poses and of course clothes!! ;)

It just kills when you are waiting and waiting to see pictures, right? And then you finally get to see them and there are just too many cute ones to choose from? :D Weigh in and help her decide which ones are the cutest! (Don't forget the first two from the previous post!)

I also liked these shots, even though they probably aren't winners when it comes to sending out graduation announcements hehe (because they aren't even focused on her cute face!).

So what do you all think????

A sneak peek...

I took some pics for my little sister's senior shoot awhile ago. Here are a few I took with my own camera before I lost battery juice there. Stay posted for the ones that I took with a fancy digital cam (which I borrowed)!

I'm a groupie

>> Saturday, August 1, 2009

This is James,...a hometown guy I went to school with and my bro played basketball with...he cooked while I cleaned tables at Mitzel's and all along I was none the wiser that he was INSANELY talented. The guy is ridiculously good at the guitar and plays in an AMAZING band called ColdNote. You can check them out on MySpace or just do a google search on them. They are all over the place, and are soon going on tour!

That's it folks, I'm officially a groupie. Well at least I will be going to as many shows as possible and buying merchandise. Won't be throwing my undies on stage or trying to sleep with the lead singer--OH NO siree. Maybe you will be persuaded though...check out this video:
