Typical Friday.

>> Friday, August 20, 2010

I just remembered it's Friday and I probably wouldn't find another chance to post besides now. So yes, here's a little post from work! Picture taken with my cell phone, sent to my email, saved (and deleted soon after) to the work computer for your curious eyes.

In the background you see the lower section of the restaurant where I have been serving up some tasty dinners. I gave you all a virtual tour of the lunch restaurant I started working at first but haven't gotten around to introducing you to this place where I have been spending most of my time lately. Pretty fancy. The only thing that needs some redecorating here is me (had a hard time getting out of bed today and was almost late for work!).

Anyway, we open now, so I'm out!

Dumb face.

>> Friday, July 30, 2010

This'll be a quick one folks, because let's be honest, I SHOULD BE PACKING.

In light of In the Photo Fridays, here is a well composed & artistic photo that Lars took of me last weekend. I think he did a really good job balancing the shot and whatnot, just too bad I made such a dumb face. I fail.

Good work Lars, 5 points to you! Lisa on the other hand, skjerp deg! (get it together)

By the way, the island in the background here is called Munkholmen (the monk's isle) and was where we spent the last day of our trip soaking up the sun. Gorgeous! Today the tiny little island is obviously just a tourist trap in the Trondheim fjord, but over time it has been a monastery, a fortress, a prison, a place of execution and a World War II anti-aircraft station. We just ate ice cream, wandered around and took pictures of course, doing our equally important part in history! ;)

Some things don't translate well.

>> Friday, July 9, 2010

Like holidays for example.

Last weekend Lars, Martin and I took a trip to Tynset for the weekend. We took it fairly easy, wandered around town, went to a concert Saturday night and did our best to celebrate the 4th of July in Norway.

Lars grilled some homemade burgers, Stine made a pasta salad and we had strawberry shortcake for dessert. Good company, good food, good times...

Most of the puzzle pieces were in place (just missing some fireworks and of course the American friends+family) but for whatever reason it just didn't satisfy my July 4th appetite. Maybe it was because we were a bit worn out from the party the night before, or that we didn't really have much time since we had to travel back to Hamar that day--I'm not really sure.

Maybe some things are best celebrated in their county of origin. I'm not certain 17. mai would translate too well to life in the US either. I mean...ugh, I dunno...it's just not the same.

What I am sure of, however, is that it made me more homesick than ever! It's been too long; I NEED to visit home.

The end.

Taking the plunge.

>> Friday, July 2, 2010

It's Friday, I've been hanging around at the lake a lot and I am participating in Meredith's photo challenge. Put it together dear readers...yes, that means bathing suit pictures will see the light of day!

This week I was scheduled to work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights and I have the opening shift this morning (after that we are heading to Tynset for the weekend!!). Working nights is pretty lame\kjedelig as far as life at home goes. I see Lars for about an hour when he comes home work and before I go to work. But it wasn't as horrible as I had expected, and that's mostly thanks to weather. Having all day free gives me time to have lessons in the morning and to enjoy sunny days lakeside. Funnily enough Iselin and I took the plunge on the coldest day (least sunny, but no days this week have been "cold") of the week:

Anna was also hanging at the beach with us but didn't have as much of an urge to hop in (it's cold). And also difficult to get in and out of the lake and some places because the rocks are SO slippery. But holy moly was it refreshing to hop in and swim around in the lake! I love it! LOVE!

Next week my schedule is even worse. Working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights again (what did I do to deserve this?) and doubles starting at 10 am on both Friday and Saturday. Hopefully the weather is just as nice next week...otherwise I am not sure what I am going to do with myself...

And since I am really feeling in the challenge spirit I am posting this picture of myself, which I would have just deleted otherwise. I don't like it.

SO awkward.

Meredith has good ideas.

>> Monday, June 28, 2010

My one and only college roommate Meredith is pretty awesome at blogging. She is consistent, interesting to read and is always coming up with new, productive and creative ideas!

She was, by the way, an awesome roommate as well. I used to snooze my alarm a gazillion times before getting out of bed and most definitely had a handful of other habits that might very well have driven her mad, but I don't ever remember us once fighting or losing our patience with each other (correct me if I'm wrong Mere) ;).

But anyway, her latest cool idea is "In the Photo Fridays". She noticed that she had been particularly camera shy lately and wishes that she had more pictures of her and her daughter. I think we can all agree that we can sometimes be overly critical of pictures of ourselves! I generally do not struggle with my self image but I did go jeans shorts shopping a few days ago, and well, enough said, right? ;)

That sentiment combined with the fact that I have been a huge slacker lately, both when it comes to posting and taking pictures, urged me to join up (even though I am a few days late)! So here is the most recent picture of me (and Lars)! It was taken Saturday at the Hamar Music Festival!

We had a blast. I will most likely share more about the concert later...that is, if the weather isn't awesome and I'm not swimming in the lake ...
